Cover upload errors: too large, wrong format, or not found

Fix the common cover errors: image too small/large, wrong format, or 'embedded cover not found'. Use JPG/PNG at 1600x2560 and let Chiify inject it.

Cover errors are common and quick to fix. Here are the usual messages and the cure.

"Image is too small" / low resolution

Your cover is below the minimum (at least 1400px on the shortest side). Re-export at higher resolution — ideally 1600 x 2560 — and do not upscale a tiny image. See cover image requirements.

"Image is too large" (megapixels)

Some stores cap cover dimensions. If yours is enormous, scale it down to around 1600 x 2560 — that meets every store without tripping the maximum.

Wrong format

Use JPG or PNG. Convert other formats (TIFF, WEBP, PDF) before uploading.

"Embedded cover not found / not an image"

This is about the cover inside your EPUB, not your upload. Re-upload and let Chiify inject the cover during delivery; rebuilding from your DOCX also fixes it — see common EPUB errors.
