About Chiify
Is Chiify a registered company?
Yes. Chiify is operated by Frenz LLC, a company registered in the United States. We're a legitimate, established business, and we're happy to share supporting documentation with serious partners on request.
Who is behind Chiify?
Chiify is led by its Founder & CEO, Arthur Ezedinma, together with a dedicated team focused on helping independent authors and publishers reach a global audience.
Can you provide documentation to support this?
Absolutely. For partners and authors who'd like to verify us before joining, we can provide our official company documentation on request — just reach out.
Accounts & fair use
Can several family members in the same household each have their own account?
Yes. Our policy is one account per person, not one account per household. Family members who share the same home internet connection can each open and run their own account. We don't block accounts simply for sharing an IP address — many households, offices, schools and whole regions legitimately share one connection.
How do you tell genuine family members apart from one person opening many accounts?
We look at the whole picture — device signals, sign-up patterns and behaviour — not a single shared IP. The clearest red flag is several accounts created from the same device in quick succession. So the simple rule is: one account per person, and each person registers from their own device.
What happens if multiple accounts are detected from one device?
It's flagged for review — standard anti-abuse practice across publishing and fintech platforms. If it's genuine (for example two siblings briefly sharing one laptop), just reach out and we'll verify and clear it. If it's one person operating multiple accounts to get around plan limits, the duplicates are closed and a single account is kept; repeated abuse can affect the surviving account, including its royalties.
If I lend my laptop to a family member, can they log in to their own account?
Yes, absolutely. The policy is about creating accounts, not logging into them. You can sign in to your own account from any device — a shared family laptop, a phone, a library computer — and a family member can sign in to their own account on your device too. The only thing we watch for is several brand-new accounts being created from the same device in quick succession. Everyday logins from shared or borrowed devices are completely fine.
Why are the sign-up rules stricter on the Free plan?
Most of the checks happen at sign-up, and they mainly affect free accounts — for an honest reason. Every book needs its own ISBN, and we buy our ISBNs in the United States at a real per-unit cost (a few dollars each, including tax). As the publisher of record we also carry each ISBN's ongoing obligations, so every free account we hand ISBNs to is a direct cost to us. A modest subscription (for example $15–$25 for up to 20 books) is what makes it sustainable to keep distribution affordable for serious authors. We're not trying to make joining hard — we're keeping the platform genuine and viable, and paid accounts face far lighter scrutiny.
What Chiify publishes
What kinds of books do you accept?
We distribute genuine, original trade titles across the categories on our Categories page — fiction, non-fiction, poetry, children's books, and educational or professional non-fiction. There are only two things we don't accept: low-content books and product guides (both explained below).
Do you accept guides or companion books for software, games, or branded products?
No. Manuals, how-to guides, or companion books for a third-party product, brand, app, software, or game — especially anything using a copyrighted or trademarked name you don't own — are not accepted. For example, a guide to 'Microsoft Flight Simulator', 'Adobe Illustrator', 'Blender', or 'ZBrush' relies on trademarks owned by other companies and is routinely rejected by retailers on intellectual-property grounds. Original work on a general subject (for example '3D sculpting fundamentals' or 'an introduction to vector illustration') is very welcome — a branded product companion is not.
Do you accept exam-preparation or study guides?
Original educational and exam-prep content is welcome. Note, though, that many certification and exam names (for example CPA, CCRN, CNOR and similar) are trademarks of their certifying bodies; titles that use those marks, or imply an official affiliation or endorsement, are frequently rejected by retailers. If your guide is genuinely your own work and is worded to avoid trademark misuse and any claim of official endorsement, it's fine. If you're unsure, ask us before uploading and we'll advise.
Do you accept low-content books?
No. Journals, blank notebooks, planners, diaries, log books, and coloring, activity or puzzle books — titles with little or no original written content — are not accepted.
How many books can I publish per day?
There is no daily limit. Bring in as many books as you like — publish one a day or ten a day. The only thing that matters is that each title is genuinely your own, complete, and well written. Upload them and let us handle the distribution.
Why was my book sent back to draft, or rejected?
We're committed to publishing premium books only — it's what keeps Chiify in good standing with Amazon and our other distribution partners. Every book runs through our automated AI quality review before it goes out. If a title isn't properly written or formatted, the review sends it back to your drafts with a clear reason, and it stays there until it scores at least 80%. This protects you and us: a poorly-formatted book that reaches a retailer risks the whole catalogue. Fix the issues the review flags, re-upload, and submit again — most books pass on the second try.
Distribution & Retailers
Where are my books distributed?
Your titles are distributed to a wide network of leading retailers and library platforms worldwide — including Apple Books, Google Play, Kobo, Barnes & Noble, tolino, and many others, as well as major audiobook and library-lending platforms.
Are some stores reached directly and others through partners?
We use a combination of direct channels and trusted distribution partners to give your books the widest possible reach. The specific commercial arrangements behind our distribution are confidential, but we're always happy to confirm where any individual title is available and which channel a sale came through.
Plans & Pricing
What plans does Chiify offer?
| Free | Starter | Pro | Lifetime | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Price | $0 | $25/mo (promo: $15/mo) | $100/year | $300 one-time |
| Active books (ISBNs) | 3 | 20 | 100 | 150 |
| Commission on net sales | 10% | 0% | 0% | 0% |
| Billing | — | Monthly | Annual | One-time |
| Payout | $25 min, monthly | Same | Same | Same |
Every plan includes full global distribution, the option to use your own ISBN and imprint, and royalty reporting. On the Free plan we take a 10% commission on net sales; on all paid plans you keep 100% of your net sales — you simply pay the plan fee.
Is the Starter promo price permanent?
The Starter plan is normally $25/month. We're currently running a limited-time promotional price of $15/month to welcome new authors. Once the promotion ends, standard pricing applies — but existing subscribers' terms are always handled fairly.
Understanding "Active Books"
What counts as an "active book"?
An active book is one ISBN that is currently live and selling through Chiify.
Why is it counted by ISBN?
Under international publishing rules, every format of a book needs its own separate ISBN — an ebook, a paperback, and an audiobook are three distinct ISBNs, not one. We count by ISBN because ISBNs carry a real registration cost, and this keeps our pricing fair and transparent for everyone.
If my book has multiple formats, is that one active book or three?
Three. Because each format (ebook, paperback, audiobook) has its own ISBN, a single title published in three formats counts as three active books.
Does "active book" mean live in stores, uploaded, or submitted?
Only books that are live and selling in stores count toward your limit. Drafts saved to your dashboard, titles still in review, and any book that has been withdrawn, archived, unpublished, or removed do not count.
Is my plan limit about books live at once, or total uploads?
It's the number of books live at any one time — never a cap on how many you can upload over a month, a year, or your lifetime. You can take a title down and add a new one freely.
If I unpublish or remove a book, does it free up a slot?
Yes. The moment a title is removed, it stops counting toward your limit and frees a slot for a new book.
How do I remove or delete a book?
For now, removing or deleting a title is done by official written request — simply email us and tell us which title you'd like taken down, and we'll action it. (We're also adding self-service removal directly to the dashboard in the coming months.)
Starter, Pro & Lifetime — Specifics
Starter says 20 active books — is that 20 live at once, or 20 uploads per month?
Up to 20 live at any one time. It is not a cap of 20 uploads per month — you can swap titles in and out freely, as long as no more than 20 are live simultaneously.
Pro says 100 active books for $100/year — is that 100 uploads per year, or 100 active at once?
Up to 100 live at any one time. It is not a yearly upload limit.
Does renewing Pro give me another 100 slots?
No — 100 is your maximum simultaneous catalogue size. Because removing a title frees a slot, there's no annual upload ceiling; you simply can't exceed 100 live books at once.
Lifetime says 150 active books — is that 150 forever, or 150 active at once?
Up to 150 live at any one time, for life. It is not a cap of 150 uploads ever.
Under Lifetime, if I delete a book, does it free a slot?
Yes. Once you request removal in writing and we take the title down, that slot immediately becomes available for a new book.
What if I want more than 150 active books on Lifetime?
We offer a custom plan for catalogues larger than 150 active ISBNs. Just write to us when you need more capacity, and we'll arrange it for you.
Upgrades & Downgrades
If I upgrade from Starter or Pro to Lifetime, do my existing books count toward the 150 limit?
Yes — your already-live ISBNs count toward the 150 active-book limit.
How does upgrading work — do I pay the full price again?
No. Upgrades are pro-rata: whatever you've already paid is credited toward the new plan, so you only pay the balance to move up — never the full price twice.
If I downgrade to Free, how do you decide which books stay active under the 3-book limit?
We don't remove any of your books. All your existing live titles stay live and keep selling, now at the Free plan's 10% commission. The 3-book limit only restricts how many new titles you can add while on the Free plan.
Payments & Royalties
What is the payout minimum and schedule?
Payouts are issued monthly, between the 15th and 20th of each month (excluding weekends and public holidays), with a $25 minimum before a payment is released. Balances below the minimum roll over to the next period.
When exactly do I get paid?
Retailers typically remit sales revenue to distributors on their own cycle — usually 60–90 days after a sale, in line with standard retail and accounting practice. Once we receive your funds from the retailer, we pay your share within 15–20 days — payouts go out between the 15th and 20th of every month, excluding weekends and public holidays. After your first payment clears the retailer's cycle, payments settle into this regular monthly rhythm.
Are there any hidden fees?
No. We charge no hidden or upfront fees. The Free plan carries a 10% commission on net sales; paid plans have 0% commission — you keep 100% of your net sales.
How do you define "net sales"?
"Net sales" is the actual amount we receive from the retailer or platform for your title, after their commission, applicable taxes, refunds/returns, and any transaction or currency-conversion costs. For audiobooks on subscription platforms, it's your pro-rata share of subscription revenue as defined by that platform; for library lending, it's the net license/loan fee remitted.
Cancellation, Downgrade & Your Rights
If my payment fails or I cancel, are my books taken down, paused, or locked?
None of those. Your books stay live and keep selling. After a short grace period, your account simply moves to the Free plan, where a 10% commission applies to future sales.
Is there a grace period before anything changes?
Yes — a 3-day grace period. During those 3 days nothing changes; if payment isn't resolved, the account then moves to the Free plan. At no point are your titles removed.
If I stop paying Starter, do my books keep selling — and at what commission?
Yes, they keep selling. Sales that occurred while you were on the paid plan are settled at 0% — we never charge commission retroactively. Sales that happen after you move to the Free plan carry the 10% Free-plan commission.
Worked example: you subscribe to Starter, publish 20 books, then cancel after one month — and those books make sales two months later. What happens?
- During your paid month: 20 books live, 0% commission.
- You cancel → 3-day grace period.
- Your account moves to the Free plan; all 20 books stay live and keep selling.
- Sales from your paid month are paid to you at 0%.
- Sales two months later (on Free) carry the 10% commission.
- You can't add new titles beyond the Free limit until you re-subscribe — but your 20 keep earning.
- Royalties are released once they clear the retailer's 60–90 day remittance cycle and your balance passes the $25 minimum.
What happens to my books, metadata, and unpaid royalties if I leave — or if Chiify ever stops operating?
Your content and rights always remain 100% yours — nothing transfers ownership of your books or metadata to Chiify. If you leave, any royalties you've already earned are paid out on the next normal cycle, and we can return or delete your files and metadata on request. In the unlikely event Chiify ever ceased operating, we would notify you in advance, settle outstanding royalties, return your files, and release all your titles back to you.
ISBN & Imprint
Can I use my own ISBN and imprint name?
Yes. You may use your own ISBN and your own imprint name, in which case your imprint appears as the publisher of record — not Chiify. If you prefer, you can use a Chiify-assigned ISBN instead. Either way, you retain all your publishing rights.
Data & Privacy
How do you protect my sensitive information?
We treat your personal and financial information as strictly confidential. Tax IDs, payout details, manuscript files, and account data are access-restricted and are never sold. We share data only with the partners strictly necessary to distribute and pay for your sales.
Lifetime Plan
Is the Lifetime plan refundable, and what happens if pricing or the model changes later?
The Lifetime plan is refundable within the refund period stated at the time of purchase. Lifetime members are grandfathered — if our pricing, commission structure, or distribution model changes in future, your original Lifetime terms continue to apply to your account.
