Publishing Your Book

What's the recommended order of pages inside a book?

Front matter (title, copyright, dedication), then the body, then back matter (about the author, also-by). A clean order helps reviews and reader experience.

A clean, conventional page order makes your book look professional and helps it pass review. Here is the standard sequence.

Front matter (the opening pages)

  1. Title page — title, subtitle, author.
  2. Copyright page — see what is a copyright page.
  3. Dedication (optional).
  4. Table of contents — though the clickable navigation matters most; see clickable table of contents.

Body

  1. Your chapters, each starting on a new page (use page breaks).

Back matter (the closing pages)

  1. About the author.
  2. Also by this author — link your other books with your Universal Book Link.
  3. A call to action — invite an honest review; see getting reviews.

Keep it clean

Remove anything that does not belong in a finished book — draft notes, placeholder text, or template boilerplate, which can get a book blocked.
