Advance Review Copies (ARCs) are free early copies you give a small group of readers so they can post honest reviews at launch — when reviews matter most.
How to do it
1. Export your finished EPUB to share — see download your EPUB.
2. Recruit a small ARC team (your newsletter readers are ideal).
3. Send the copy a couple of weeks before launch and ask for an honest review on release day.
The rules
- Ask for honest reviews, never paid or fake ones — buying reviews can get a book removed. See getting reviews.
- Some stores mark reviews differently if the reader did not buy the book; that is fine — early honest reviews still help.
Why it works
A cluster of genuine reviews at launch builds credibility and feeds store algorithms. Pair it with your launch plan for maximum effect.
