How to delete your Chiify account
Permanently deleting your Chiify account, with what stays and what goes.
Last updated 2026-06-06
You can delete your Chiify account at any time. Here's what happens.
Before you delete
Take a moment to consider:
- All your books will be taken down. Retailer takedowns take 1–14 days; the deletion process kicks them off automatically.
- Pending payouts will be paid first. If you have an unpaid balance, we'll send the final payout via your saved method before closing the account.
- You can't reactivate. Deletion is permanent.
- Active subscriptions are cancelled. No further charges. No partial refunds for unused time (except Lifetime — see below).
What stays after deletion
- Sales records for the trailing 7 years (required by US tax law as we're a US company).
- Aggregate analytics (e.g., "Chiify has paid out $X million") — no personally identifying data.
What gets deleted
- Your account profile (name, email, password hash).
- All draft books not yet published.
- Manuscript files (we delete from R2 storage within 30 days).
- Cover files (same).
- Your payout details (bank account, USDT wallet).
- Bookmarks, highlights, and reading positions from the reader app (if you also used the reader).
Steps to delete
From the web
- Settings → Account
- Scroll to Delete account (at the bottom)
- Type your password to confirm
- Type the word DELETE in the confirmation box
- Click Permanently delete
From the mobile app
- Account tab → Delete account
- Re-enter your password
- Confirm
Refunds for Lifetime
If you delete within 7 days of buying Lifetime, we'll refund in full.
After 7 days, Lifetime is non-refundable — but if you have a specific concern, email [email protected] and we'll figure something out.
Why Apple and Google require this
Apple's App Store and Google Play Store require every app with account creation to have an in-app account-delete path. We support this on both web and the mobile app.
Changed your mind during deletion?
You have 48 hours after clicking Delete to email [email protected] and reverse. After 48 hours, the deletion proceeds and is irreversible.
Just want to pause?
If you want a break without deleting, downgrade to Free instead. Free has a 3-book limit but no recurring charges. Take down books over the limit, and your account stays alive indefinitely with no charges.
