Using the in-app audiobook player

Tap Listen on any audiobook in your Library to open the player.

Basic controls

• Big play/pause button in the middle
• Skip −30s / +30s buttons either side of play/pause
• Scrub bar above the play button shows elapsed / remaining time

Variable speed

Tap the speed button (shows current speed, like "1.0×") to cycle through:

• 0.75× (slow)
• 1.0× (normal)
• 1.25×
• 1.5×
• 1.75×
• 2.0× (fast)

For non-fiction and lectures, 1.5×–1.75× is a good upgrade once your ear adapts.

Sleep timer

Tap the Sleep button to cycle through:

• Off
• 5 min
• 15 min
• 30 min
• 45 min
• 60 min

The audio fades out when the timer hits zero. To extend, tap Sleep again to bump to the next interval.

Background playback

When you leave the app or lock the screen, audio keeps playing. Pull down the iOS Control Center or Android notification shade and you'll see the playback controls.

• Play/pause from the lock screen ✓
• Skip ±30s from the lock screen ✓
• Adjust volume via your phone's hardware volume buttons ✓

Bluetooth headphones and car play

• AirPods double-tap triggers play/pause.
• Bluetooth car head units show "Chiify Store" with the book title and play/pause buttons.
• CarPlay / Android Auto work natively on supported vehicles.

Resume from your exact position

Open the same audiobook on any device — phone, tablet, web — and we'll resume at the exact second you left off. This works across pause cycles, app closes, and device switches.

Offline listening

Audiobooks are big (often 200–500 MB). Download for offline before a flight or commute:

1. Library tab.
2. Find the book.
3. Tap Download next to the AUDIO badge.
4. Wait for the progress bar to hit 100%.

Once downloaded, the listen flow uses the local file — no streaming, no buffering, no data usage.

Storage

Downloaded files live in the app's private sandbox on your phone. To free space:

• Library → swipe a book → Remove download (keeps the entitlement; you can re-download anytime).
• Or Settings → Storage to see total storage used and clear all.
