How do I change or update my book's ISBN?

Changing it before publishing

Easy — just edit the ISBN field on the draft before you submit.

Changing it after publishing

This is sensitive. An ISBN is the unique product identifier stores key on, so swapping it on a live book can:

• Create a new listing (losing the old listing's reviews and rank), or
• Cause a conflict if the old ISBN is still active.

So change a live ISBN only when you genuinely must (for example you mistakenly used the wrong one), and expect the listing to reset.

Format rules

Each format needs its own ISBN — your ebook, audiobook, and paperback cannot share one. See do different formats count as separate books.
