Where the Packlands Break

Beatrice Hale runs from Alderwick expecting distance, not a borderland that can move beneath her feet.

The March is old Pack ground where roads fold wrong, exits shift, and crossing into Kingsmere should be impossible. It leaves Beatrice face-to-face with Alpha Vincent Roche—and with the unmistakable recognition that he is her true mate.

Fate, however, does not get to make her choices.

Vincent can close the dangerous Verge routes tearing through the Packlands, but every closure costs him more of his sense of direction, time, and place. Beatrice can see what he cannot: which exits are real and which lead deeper into the break. As attacks along the border drive Alderwick and Kingsmere toward war, their two abilities make cooperation necessary—and trust increasingly dangerous.

Desire grows under pursuit, divided loyalties, and truths Vincent has not fully told her. To keep the Packlands from becoming a road to war, Beatrice must decide which paths are worth following, which loyalties are hers to choose, and whether being fated to a man means anything if she cannot choose him freely.
