Vega's Sword

Priya Nair is thirty and the last survivor of her salvage crew. Kaelen is sixty-one and the commander of the Warship Vega, which doesn't take captives — it takes specialists. She fixes his reactor. He doesn't thank her. Four months on his ship teach her two things: that he has been losing the same war for forty years, and that he is the most decent man she has ever been trapped with. When she's finished, he offers her passage home. It takes nine months. She tells him she'll stay. An open-door age gap alien captive romance about a woman with a toolbox, a warlord with a code he's about to break, and a ship that was never designed to hold either of them.
