Trapped in the Yacht's Wake

Corinne Aubert was supposed to deliver a package and go home. Instead the men waiting on the dock are shot, and she jumps the only boat leaving Marseille — a yacht belonging to Lucien Castel, the forty-two-year-old who runs the port and doesn't take meetings with her mother. He finds her in the linen cupboard an hour out to sea. Five days east, one cabin, no turning back. Corinne has spent her whole life being passed between people; for the first time someone asks her what she wants. She tells the truth. It turns out the double-cross runs back to her own stepfather, and the ledger he thought was at the bottom of the harbor has been in her backpack the whole time. Now she's walking into his meeting at the side of the man her mother was afraid of, and she's done asking for permission.
