The Vice President's Email

Selma Quintero kept the Blackbridge Saints' books for fourteen years. She knew where every dollar went. She knew her husband Brick loved her in the way you love a kitchen — until she didn't. The email wasn't a love letter. It was a plan. And once she'd read it, Selma didn't yell. She did the math. When she stood up in church with a lawyer on speaker and a printed ledger, she took the Saints' money, their trust, and her husband's patch in one sentence. Now Brick shows up to her tax office every Thursday with a folder and no speech, drives long-haul for a living, and pays back every dollar he stole — in installments, with receipts. Selma doesn't forgive him. She doesn't do anything. She'll decide in December.
