The Undercover Foreman

Someone has been skimming from the Whitlow mill for eighteen months, and Cal Brennan has been sent to find out who — not as a board fixer, but as a foreman on the green chain. Josie Arden has run that floor for six years. She knows every man on it, which is why the new hire's questions about the night tickets make the hair on her arms stand up. She doesn't trust him. She doesn't like him. And then a company party at the river lodge, and one night she can't blame on the punch. Nine weeks later there's a test in her hand, a suspension list on the break-room wall with her friends' names on it, and a man standing in the parking lot telling her the truth she should have guessed. He came to the mill to catch a thief. He stayed because of her. Josie has to decide whether the man who lied to her floor is worth trusting with her town — and her baby.
