The Stranger in Room Nine

What if the one room locked for seventeen years suddenly opened—and the man inside carried a message from someone who vanished without a trace?

Claire Doran has spent years guarding the darkest secret of the Larkspur Hotel. Room Nine has remained sealed since October 14, 2009, the night Simon Vale disappeared. The locks were changed. The keys were secured. No guest was allowed inside.

Until now.

At 1:17 in the morning, during a storm that has cut the hotel off from the outside world, Claire sees light beneath Room Nine’s door. Inside is Noah Vale, a stranger carrying an old brass key that should no longer exist.

Then he tells her something impossible.

Simon Vale was his father.

And Simon died three weeks ago.

In Noah’s hand is a sealed envelope addressed to Claire in Simon’s unmistakable handwriting. Before she can demand answers, glass shatters downstairs, the hotel goes dark, and someone begins moving through the building.

Now Claire must face questions she has avoided for seventeen years:

• How did Noah enter a room no one could open?
• Why did Simon leave Claire a message after nearly two decades of silence?
• What really happened on the night he disappeared?
• Who else in the hotel knows the truth?
• Why is someone willing to kill to keep Room Nine’s secret buried?

Trapped by freezing rain with stranded guests and a past that refuses to stay silent, Claire realizes the danger is not outside the hotel.

It is already inside.
