The Silver Howl

Four bodies. Four smiles. Forensic pathologist Mira Halden is the only one who notices, and that makes her the only one the killer is writing to. The notes arrive in her own handwriting. The woman in grey appears in every crime-scene photograph, never quite in focus. The wolf detective wants her off the case. The forensic anthropologist wants her safe. The journalist wants her story. All three are bound to her — and none of them are telling the whole truth. When Mira is taken off the case, she keeps working. She has a key to the morgue and a bone saw, and she has finally understood that the woman who has been watching her whole life is on the same trail. On the last night, in the cold room, Mira learns what a body looks like from the inside. She survives. She is not the same.
