The Reluctant Rift-Warden

Perrin Vale has failed Veil Academy's entrance exam three years running. Then, on her eighteenth birthday, four wardens arrive at her cottage to tell her the exam was a mistake: she was admitted three years ago, and a locked room has been waiting for her ever since. Perrin walks into Veil Academy with nothing but a cracked wand and a fury, and the school hands her the Reluctant Rift-Warden's Trial — a gauntlet that hasn't been passed in a century. Her only help is the four wardens who dragged her here: a fae duelist, a wolf-shifter who failed the trial twice, a vampire scholar who has annotated her dead mother's thesis, and a shadow-shifter who isn't sure they're a person. Each door of the trial will take something from her. The seventh door will take everything, unless Perrin can figure out what the trial is really hungry for before it eats her alive.
