The Prospect Who Kept Her Secrets

My husband sold his own club to a rival for money that got two boys killed. I found the burner phone and I handed it to the sergeant-at-arms, and I walked out of the Iron Skulls without looking back. Merle loved me for eleven years and never said a word. He watched me marry a man who was rotten, and he buried the bodies afterwards, and he never once asked me for anything. Three years later I came home to bury my grandmother. He was standing on her porch with a hammer in his hand, no cut, no patch, no agenda. He doesn't cheat, he doesn't lie, and he's going to have to grovel for the eleven years he stood there and said nothing. I'm going to let him. Slowly.
