The Luna He Left

Serena Voss was handpicked to be the Luna of Blackpine. In her third year, Alpha Rhys Blackpine walked her to the pack circle and rejected her in favour of a stranger with a better name. She was given one night to leave. She took a ledger. Two years later Serena returns to Blackpine — not as a wolf with a grievance, but as an auditor for the regional pack council, summoned to investigate the pack's failed grain contracts. Contracts she once helped file. Contracts she can read line by line from memory. Rhys is standing on the other side of a long table when she walks in. The bond they severed re-fires on the handshake. He wants to talk. She wants the truth on the record. His new bride's family wants the audit buried. The pack just wants someone competent. Serena reads the ledger aloud. And then she reads the page about him.
