The Last Butler of Foxglove Prep

Foxglove Prep has twelve students and a leaking roof. Thea Winslow is one of them. Emory Vane serves dinner to the other eleven. He's nineteen. She's seventeen. They live on the same stairs, in the same house, above and below the headmaster's table. When her father remarries in October, the school starts calling them family, and neither of them corrects it. In November, Emory's father — who runs the marina and most of the paperwork on the island — hands him a folder to take to the mainland. Thea sees the name on the label and opens it. It's the prosecutor. It's the 2014 case. It's every unpaid inspection for ten years. A High School Dark Stepbrother Capo Romance about a dying boarding school, a boy who serves dinner, and a girl who was going to inherit everything until she didn't.
