The Landlord of Depoe Bay

Talia Brennan came home to Depoe Bay with a suitcase, a divorce decree, and her aunt's failing bookstore. She did not come home for Grey Sorenson. Grey owns the building. He is fifty-nine. He gave Talia her first job when she was seventeen and has been watching the store from across the street ever since — paying its back taxes, refusing offers, waiting for someone he had no right to wait for. She finds out in October. She's not grateful. She's furious. For one year they argue about the roof and the rent and whose name goes on the lease. By spring, the historical society wants the building, the bank wants its money, and Grey is going to have to decide whether he's a landlord or something harder to name.
