The Iron Pakhan

Vera Sokolova runs a hospital. She doesn't run a family. But when her father bombs the only neutral ground in Moscow, the pakhan decides she owes a debt. Konstantin Belov is 47, widowed, and known for two things: never raising his voice, and never losing. He puts a ring on her finger and a target on her back. Vera thinks she can survive the marriage. She doesn't expect to survive the man. He's old enough to be her father. He's also the only person who's ever kept her safe. When her father orders a hit on the husband she swore to hate, Vera has to choose. She chooses wrong. Then she chooses right. Either way, somebody dies.
