The Garrison

Garrison Halden was decommissioned six years ago. Someone forgot to tell the three soldiers still living there. Sergeant Cass Ferro was sent to survey it for demolition. Instead she found a one-armed demolitions expert, a cryptographer who hasn't spoken in eleven months, and a commander who has been hand-cranking the outpost's generator since the funding vanished. Their payroll has been rerouted for years — into an off-books militia. Cass was supposed to file a report. She stayed to fix the generator instead. Now headquarters is sending a team to shut the garrison down, and the men inside it are the only people who know the pass as well as she does. Three soldiers, one stolen outpost, and a woman who refuses to leave any of them behind.
