The Garage on Vine Street

Lena Ozawa-Marchetti walked out of her divorce with the last asset neither of them wanted: her grandfather's garage on Vine Street. The condo was his. The account was his. The garage is hers, along with a leaking roof, a stubborn hydraulic lift, and a mechanic named Gio who gives her six months before she sells. She learns to pull permits. She gets a loan. She hangs a new sign herself and falls off a ladder exactly once. She starts a Saturday class for girls who want to change their own oil. Her ex-husband wants her to sell. A developer wants her to sell. Her mother, one afternoon, tells her not to. Two years after the divorce, the shop is profitable. Lena turns off the light. A divorce romance about the asset that turns out to be a life.
