The Deputy Coroner

A retired judge dead in a locked boat house. The sheriff says heart attack. Deputy Coroner Robyn Aiken says the man had saltwater in his lungs and now he's missing a tooth. Dr. Wendell Pace has run the Saltmarsh morgue for thirty years, trained half the coroners on the Georgia coast, and has never once staked his career on a hunch. He stakes it on Robyn. He's fifty-two. She's twenty-four. He backs her to the sheriff, to the judge's family, to his own board — and somewhere in the middle of all those late nights, the shape of it changes. Now somebody with eight million reasons wants the case closed, and the only two people who can close it are the two it could ruin. An amateur sleuth age gap romance on the Georgia coast.
