The Debtor in the Red Room

Ines Ba has spent a career reading contracts for lies. When her mother dies, she finds a ledger that has been paid quietly for four generations, and the entry on the last page has her name on it. The collector is a man named Théo Marchand, who has been taking the payments for sixty years and won't say who they're for. The clan he serves has money, lawyers, and a children's hospital with its name on the east wing. Ines will renegotiate the debt the way she renegotiates everything: in writing, with terms. A dark modern vampire romance in which nobody gets bitten until the paperwork is signed.
