The Consigliere Took Me

Elena Sorrentino was delivering pastries when two men were shot in front of her van. Her dashcam saw everything. She backed up and drove home. Three days later, Matteo Ferrara is waiting in her mother's kitchen with a coat in her size. He's fifty-six, consigliere of the Di Natale family, and very polite about the fact that Elena is now a witness he intends to keep. She doesn't want a safehouse. She wants her route back. He tells her the trial comes first and locks the gate. Elena bakes at five in the morning because it makes his kitchen hers. She counts the cars. She reconstructs the night on a napkin, and Matteo Ferrara reads it without saying a word. Then the men who did the shooting find the house, and they don't expect the van. An age gap mafia captive dark bully romance about a witness who decides to stay on her own terms.
