The Charcoal Amulet

Nine bodies arranged around a charcoal circle. One empty place. A visitor's ledger signed this morning by a pastor who died in 1621. Forensic photographer Wren Adeyemi has three days to make the moors show her what they are hiding, and the one thing that keeps showing up in every plate is her own family. Pastor Rennick has been cataloging his congregation's sins for four centuries, and he has been waiting for someone with Wren's blood to walk in and finish the count. The tenth body is the lock. The amulet is the keyhole. Wren is holding the lens.
