The Captain's Cruel Bargain

Mira Belov has forty thousand dollars and eleven weeks. Her brother owes the Volkov family, and the Volkov family does not negotiate. So she walks into the Bayridge Wolves' arena and makes an offer to the only man in the building who can decide: Roman Volkov, the captain, the man who takes whatever the family points him at. He says no. Then he says yes, on terms that have nothing to do with the money. A job in the front office. No questions. No contact with her brother. And a room in his house for the duration. Mira takes it, because it is the only door open. What she does not know is that Roman has been keeping her brother alive for a month already — and that the debt was never the point. She was. Dark hockey. Bratva money. One bargain neither of them meant to keep.
