Seen by the Night Watch

Dani Okafor has a route. Eleven to seven at the pharmacy, the same bus, the same corner, the same coffee. Someone else has learned it. A blue lighter she didn't buy. A bus transfer stamped two minutes after hers. Her name, spelled right, in handwriting that isn't hers. Casimir Vuković is a night watchman for the city's vampire registry. He is assigned to monitor at-risk humans in his district. He is not assigned to watch one of them every night for six weeks, and he is not assigned to care. When a rival contractor moves in, the men who look at Dani wrong start turning up dead. Dani finds the logbook with her whole life written down in it and decides the only way to stop being watched is to look back. She's not going to fix him. She's going to make him sign.
