Ravished by the Brigadier

Envoy Cassia Rein was sent to the Verge to negotiate a ceasefire she was ordered to betray. Three brigadiers hold the contested system: Aurel, who commanded the massacre her people have not forgiven. Kest, who signed the order. Tor, who carried it out and hasn't slept since. Her brief is to find the singularity wells and hand the coordinates to her own admiralty. She does it in eleven days — and then doesn't send them, because in those eleven days she has found the file that proves the massacre was her own side's operation. She gives the file to the brigadiers instead. In the council chamber she plays it, and burns her commission in the brazier. The admiralty sends a fleet. The Verge closes the blockade it was meant to be trapped by. And Cassia Rein takes a place among the brigadiers — in their council, and in their bed. Traitor to one flag. Founding citizen of another.
