Puck and Crown

Nico Adair has one season to be only a goaltender. His older brother runs the family now, and the family has been using Nico's name in places Nico has never been. So the family sends a fixer to Halston — sensible shoes, quiet voice, a phone that never stops buzzing — to keep him out of trouble and out of court. Nella Falco is supposed to watch him. Instead she catches subpoenas in the parking lot, lies to federal clerks, and rewrites two ledgers so his name never appears on them. He lets her in. It's the first decision he's made in two years that belongs to him. By the end of the season they'll be driving north, and the family will not be following.
