Bea Kelso runs a bike-repair shop on the coast and minds her own business, which is a full-time job in a city where shifters, vampires and witches all keep their fights off her floorboards. Her one rule, painted above the till: no masters, no mates. Then a wounded wolf shifter collapses in her garage. A vampire walks in at dusk with a ledger proving the supernatural council is running a protection racket. A witch shows up asking for a hideout after burning her own coven's altar. Bea doesn't want any of them. She also doesn't hand them over. By the end of the week the council's enforcers are on her street, three impossible houseguests are in her flat, and Bea has to decide whether she's the kind of woman who takes a side. She is. She'll take theirs — and she'll read the council's ledger out loud at the autumn assembly, no matter who comes for her afterwards.
