Laptops for Beginners

If you have just been given a laptop and worry about pressing the wrong thing, you are not alone. Walter Hemsley wrote this book for you: adults who want to learn at a calm pace, without jargon or judgment. By the last page, you will be able to set up your laptop, browse the internet safely, send email, write and print documents, make video calls, and fix common problems without fear. Inside, you will find plain steps for connecting to the internet, a gentle guide to sending and receiving email, and patient advice on organizing your files so nothing gets lost. The print is large, the explanations repeat where repetition helps, and every chapter assumes you have never touched a computer before. When you are ready, take the first small step and let this book sit beside you while you learn.
