Her Wicked Tutor

Hollowfield is a school for girls whose families want them out of sight, and Otto Fairbanks is one scholarship away from getting out herself. She has three tutors for her final examinations, a privilege usually reserved for the paying students. Mr. Rennick teaches Latin and has a rule about not being alone with students. Mr. Carrow teaches mathematics and has been sleeping with the headmistress for two years. Mr. Vaughn teaches history and is the only one who asks Otto what she actually wants. The three of them have been running a quiet trade at Hollowfield for three years. Nice girls, arranged marriages, a percentage for each tutor. Otto's name is on the ledger. The number next to it is her tuition. She doesn't take it to the county. She takes it to each of them separately, and makes an offer that any reasonable man would refuse. None of them refuse. She gets her scholarship. She also gets them.
