Her Cursed Bodyguard

Odile Marchetti is the last of her line, which means every assassin in the Veil has her name pinned to a wall. The council, in its infinite mercy, sends her three bodyguards she never asked for: a vampire duelist with a smile like a closing door, a wolf-shifter who abandoned his own pack, and a mortal mage who owes her dead mother a debt he won't name. They live in her crumbling Venetian palazzo, one room between them and her bed, and one of them is feeding her location to the hunters. When Odile finally learns which of her guards has been lying, she doesn't run him through. She rewrites the terms. By her twenty-fifth birthday she will have killed a council's worth of men, burned her mother's grimoire, and bound three bodyguards to her in blood — no longer guards, no longer hers to command, but hers.
