Held by the Harvest God

Dr. Junie Halvorsen has three hundred square miles of county and one problem: three of her farm families have the same fever, and the fever doesn't respond to anything she has. It responds to something in the corn. Specifically, to the seven-foot horned man who lives in it, who the locals leave out sweet cream for, and who has been — patiently, quietly, for two hundred years — dying. Junie examines him. It is not procedure. It is not even professional. But he lets her, and after that nothing in her life is quite the shape it was. Then a seed company arrives to buy up the county, and the one thing standing between the land and the contract is a monster that everybody is pretending is a legend. Held by the Harvest God is a monster bait doctor romance about soil, medicine, and a very large man at your kitchen table.
