Fumes and Roses

Petra Kovac has the only real repair shop in a town that stopped growing in 1978. She can tune a carburetor by ear and she does not need three bikers renting the rooms above her kitchen. Vandal wants the backroom for club business. Bear wants to talk about a 1948 knucklehead she has under a tarp. Ness wants to learn to true a wheel, and does not stop asking. Then her brother comes home after three years with a rival club's patch on his back and a favor to ask. He wants Petra to spy. Petra is many things. Stupid is not one of them. She tells the three men in her building everything on the second night, and they decide what to do about it together — which is not a word Petra has used about anyone in a long time. In October the rival club comes to her shop. She is going to have opinions about that too.
