Ada Iyke has no degree, no plan, and no patience for a doctor who asks her to measure things in milligrams. The job is to keep an old woman comfortable and keep her company. It is not supposed to include Dr. Rowan Kilmartin, fifty-one, precise as a metronome, and absolutely certain that Ada is going to get someone killed.
