Diesel and Rosewater

Rose Callahan's brother Six left her a motorcycle and a lot of unanswered questions. Diesel Cutter — sergeant-at-arms of the Iron Choir, and the man who was supposed to watch Six's back — has every answer, and he isn't giving one up. He gives Rose the key to the bike instead and offers to teach her to ride it. Rose takes the lessons. She doesn't take the club. She has a daughter to raise, a night shift to work, and a rule about men in leather. But Diesel keeps showing up on her porch, and Birdie keeps running to the door, and Birdie's laugh is starting to sound like Six's, and something in Diesel's face every time he looks at her kid is going to make Rose ask a question she doesn't want answered. Kestrel, the club president, already knows. And Kestrel doesn't lose leverage. He breaks people who hold any.
