Widow of Ironwood

Sable Ruel mourned her husband the way the pack expected: quietly, in the lodge kitchen, with her hands busy. What she didn't expect was the will naming a fifty-one-year-old alpha as guardian of the pack's youngest — a man she's been told her whole life not to trust. Torrin Ashgrove has led Ironwood for twenty-two winters, and his wolf is going quiet. Under pack law, an unmated alpha must step down at the spring thaw, and the rival pack across the ridge is already writing the merger terms. Sable was never allowed to shift. She intends to learn before May. What the two of them become in the snowbound months between is not the pack's business — until the thaw makes it everyone's. Some bonds are inherited. Some are claimed. Sable intends to choose hers.
