Warden of the Rink

Warden Kell ruins careers for a living. It is the only thing he is undeniably good at. When the Coastal League drops a nineteen-year-old Russian defector into his house, Warden is told to keep the kid upright and off the news until the trade window shuts. Sasha Ilyin has a torn shoulder, no documents, and a way of looking at Warden like he is not a monster. Then Dmitri Aslanov arrives with the club's dirt in a leather folder and a solution Warden cannot afford to refuse. One house. Three men who do not trust each other. A forged marriage certificate, a notary who owes a favor, and a morning skate that keeps getting earlier. Nobody in this league gets saved. Some of them get chosen.
