Verdant Overload

Mason Okoro spent his life taking care of other people's trees. Then one of them killed him, and the world of Anthea woke up a Green Warden for the first time in two centuries. His class is Verdant Overload: every plant he touches can be fed with his own life. A hedge becomes a wall. A wall becomes a border. A border becomes a forest that eats an army. The Bloodwood Coalition would like that forest for timber and Mason for a weapon, and they already have a Warden of their own — an ancestor of his, chained by the roots for two hundred years. Mason grows. The Coalition cuts. Every battle takes a year off his life, and he is only thirty. By the end, the kingdom's border will not be in the same place it started, and neither will Mason.
