Two Years and Three Days

Two years and three days after she left him, Nell Ashford comes back to bury her father. She isn't staying. She's closing the shop, signing the papers, and leaving again. Then the will names the mortgage holder — and the mortgage holder is her estranged husband, Julian Ashford, who bought her father's debt quietly two years ago and never said a word. The sale needs his signature. He doesn't offer it quickly. What follows is ninety days of paperwork neither of them hurries, a shop filling up with two people, and the slow arithmetic of a silence that lasted two years and three days. A marriage-in-crisis reunion romance about the long way back to a door you never knocked on.
