Thorns and Silk

Liza Ivanova grows orchids. She doesn't grow money. But when her father steals five million dollars from the Solntsevskaya bratva, they send a 50-year-old enforcer to collect. Andrei Antonov finds Liza in her greenhouse. He expects to find a stupid girl. He finds a woman who knows the Latin name of every plant in the room and doesn't flinch when he tells her he's there to kill her. He doesn't kill her. He takes her prisoner instead. She makes him tea. She tells him about the orchids. He listens. When the bratva sends someone else to finish the job, Andrei kills him. Liza watches. She doesn't run. She asks him why he saved her. He tells her he doesn't know. They don't get married. They don't need to. She plants a garden. He stands in it every morning like he's praying.
