The Woman in the Auction Lot

Junie Pell buys forty pounds of dead man's furniture and finds a scrapbook hidden in a walnut desk. Sixty years of newspaper clippings about a woman who vanished from a roadside motel. Every clipping annotated. Every note in the missing woman's own handwriting. Junie is a bookseller, not a detective. But she knows a first edition when she sees one, and she knows a lie when a family tells her one. Her ex-husband says drop it. The motel is still standing. The registration cards are still in the box. And one of them is dated three days after Ruth Ostergaard disappeared. Some mysteries want to be solved. This one has been waiting to be found.
