The Vengeful Don

Valentina D'Amato hasn't spoken to her father in a decade. When he dies mid-call, he leaves her the family's legitimate stake: three warehouses, a trucking permit, a house in Grosse Pointe. What he doesn't leave her is a choice. The moment she signs, she has a name — and the Rinaldi family has a standing claim on the D'Amato holdings going back to before she was born. Matteo Rinaldi runs the family the way his father did, and expected the whole estate to fall to him within the month. Instead he gets a Detroit ER doctor who neither runs nor asks for mercy. They meet six times, at night, in a warehouse on the river. She learns the trucks. He learns her shift. Neither will admit what they're using each other for. When a Cleveland outfit hijacks a shipment and kills a driver, Valentina pulls every record her father left her and hands them over. He ends the Cleveland family in one weekend. On Monday, he stands in her parking lot with two coffees. She has a shift. He waits.
