The Sister She Replaced

Six years ago, June Petrelli told the truth in court. It put her twin sister in a psychiatric unit and she has been alone ever since. Now their mother is dead, and June comes back to Marrow Bay to empty the house. Vera is already inside. Same haircut. Same shoes. Same laugh — the one June has spent six years teaching herself not to do. The neighbours stop June in the street to say how good it is to have her home. They say it to Vera. In the estate papers June finds a second birth certificate. In the coroner's file she finds a page cut out cleanly. And on the headland above the bay, her sister finally offers her the truth: there was only ever one daughter in this family. June just has to decide which of them she is. A page-turner about sisters, secrets, and the paperwork that lies for us.
