The Rival of the House

Cassandra Boucher transferred to Harrow knowing exactly who she'd be playing for and exactly who she'd be playing against. She didn't plan on Jules Whitlock. Harrow's captain has been studying Cassandra's tape for two years. She knows Cassandra's shot, her hesitation, the tell in her shoulder before she cuts. No rival should know that much. No rival should say it out loud. So they make a rule: nothing on campus. Nothing on tape. Nothing that matters. It works for four months, two regular-season meetings, and a 6 a.m. strength slot neither of them can move. Then a camera catches what they've been hiding, and Cassandra loses her season, her captaincy, and her father, in that order. Some rivalries end on the field. Some of them don't end at all.
