The Ring He Gave Her Was Mine

Marcela Ferrer has been the old lady of the Blue Ridge Nomads' vice president for eight years, and she's been running his books for six. Yolanda Prieto is a nurse in Charlotte who thinks her boyfriend Nick is a long-haul driver with a wife in Ohio. Neither of them is wrong enough to be prepared for the call that comes after the wreck on I-40. One woman is at the hospital with him. One is on the way. When Marcela walks in and sees Yolanda at his bedside, she doesn't start a scene. She asks Yolanda if she'd like coffee. This is not a love triangle. This is what two grown women do when they find out they've been sharing a man, a mortgage, and a nationwide lie — and they start by comparing notes.
