The Quiet Follower

The house is exactly as Sable Ruiz remembers it, which is the first thing that's wrong. Her grandmother has been dead for six weeks. The lawn is cut. The porch light is on. The locks are new, and one of the keys is missing. Adrian has been the handyman on this street for eleven years. He fixed the gutter in April, the roof in June, and the fence the summer Sable was nine — the fence he used to stand on the wrong side of, watching a girl at summer camp who did not know she had an audience. He has filed every year since. He isn't hiding it. He has a lease seven miles away, a key he cut himself, and an explanation he is willing to give her in the kitchen, all at once, with the lights on. Sable can call the police. She can call a locksmith. She does neither. The Quiet Follower is a dark stalker romance about the kind of man who fixes your roof before you know it's leaking — and the woman who decides to keep him.
