The Prospect's Plus-Size Queen

Mari Thibodeaux has run her grandmother's bakery in Bayou Chene for nine years, and she has heard every version of 'you're a lot' a small town can offer. She is not looking for a new regular, especially not one in a kutte with somebody else's errand list in his back pocket. Jonah 'Bee' Beaumont is a prospect. That means he is the club's gopher, the lowest patch on the pole, and currently standing in her bakery at closing time pretending to decide between the last cinnamon roll and a second one. He is terrible at pretending. They start dating the way anybody does — dinners, a movie, a crawfish boil her mother ruins. Then a planted charge puts Bee in county overnight, and a rival charter starts asking the bakery for money, and Mari finds out what it means to have a man stand in her doorway and not move.
